New Forest District Council grants planning permission for eight new bungalows on land at Waltons Avenue and Long Lane, Holbury

PLANS to build eight new bungalows in Holbury have been approved by New Forest District Council despite concerns from the parish council.

The application by Ian Vass for land at the rear of 4-20 Waltons Avenue and 87 Long Lane includes the demolition of one existing end-terrace home to provide vehicle access.

Four of the bungalows will be detached three-bedroom units, with the other four semi-detached with two bedrooms.

Each dwelling includes two parking spaces, while a further six non-allocated spaces are included in the scheme.

A report to members of the council’s planning committee heard the site had been granted planning permission in 2021 for five houses.

A report which recommended the new scheme be approved said: “The proposal would provide eight new dwellings within a sustainable location and is considered to raise no significant concerns.”

Fawley Parish Council had objected to the scheme on the grounds that it was a poor design and “overcrowding” of the site.

However, Cllr John Sleep said he felt the bungalow scheme would be more reassuring to residents than the previous homes plan, as it did not impact privacy.

Cllr Wade added: “This is a very good development.”

Members voted unanimously in favour.
