WITNESSES and dashcam footage are being sought following the death of a cyclist a week after he suffered a suspected medical episode on the Avon Causeway at Hurn.

Paramedics and police responded to an emergency on the main road’s eastbound carriageway, near the Avon Causeway Hotel, around 2.50pm on Sunday 24th May.

The man, who was in his 50s and from Bournemouth, was flown by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital where he died on Monday.

Officers are now urging people to come forward if they can help piece together what happened on the causeway.

PC Andy Kennedy, of Dorset’s traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly died and we owe it to them to carry out a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to police, or who was driving in the area at the time and captured anything relevant on dashcam, to please contact us.”

Those with information should call the force on 101, quoting incident reference number 55200073303, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
