2023 Joint Ploughing Match raises £3,000 for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

A POPULAR community ploughing match has raised £3,000 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

The event, which took place in October, saw members of Lymington Growmore Club and South Avon and Stour Agricultural Society go head-to-head in an array of agricultural classes.

Now in its 61st year, the Joint Ploughing Match also saw a number of local young farmers competing for the first time. There were 55 entries altogether across 10 classes.

Joint Ploughing Match secretary Tania Niccolls said: “We had lots of support including 12 entries from residents of the Isle of Wight, which they had the added challenge of getting their tractors to and from the match via a ferry journey, others from surrounding counties and as far as Somerset.

“This is an amazing age-old traditional agricultural event that brings the community together.”

The event, which took place at Aubrey Farm in Keyhaven, was hosted by Simeon Morgan and his wife Lisa.

The cheque was presented to HIOWAA supporter engagement officer Lucy Butcher by Tania Niccolls, event chair Stuart Slocombe and Simeon.

Tania said: “Thank you again to all our sponsors, supporters, volunteers and ploughmen that helped create a very successful day!”
