Police appeal after The Retreat in Brockenhurst, The Ferryman, Rosie Lea House, Deep Blue, Cornish Bakery in Lymington, and White Rabbit in Lyndhurst hit by burglars
At least six New Forest businesses were targeted in a night of raids.
As reported by the A&T, The Retreat in Brockenhurst, and The Ferryman and Rosie Lea House in Lymington were targeted overnight on Monday and Tuesday.
Now police have added three more to the list: the White Rabbit pub in Romsey Road, Lyndhurst; Deep Blue fish and chip shop in High Street, Lymington; and the Cornish Bakery, also in Lymington’s High Street.
Nothing was reported stolen from the White Rabbit, Deep Blue or the Cornish Bakery, although the burglars left damage behind.
A safe containing cash was ripped from the wall of The Ferryman, and money and sausage rolls were taken from The Retreat.
It’s unknown if anything was taken from Rosie Lea.
Retreat co-owner Fleur McCarthy told the A&T: “As with any burglary, it’s horrible – the invasion of privacy and the fact that someone has been inside your place without permission
“It’s made me at least quite nervy when customers have been coming in and out during the day.”
CCTV captured the trespasser ransacking the café shortly after 4am.
The Ferryman manager Robert Smith said: “It’s upsetting when you think somebody else has come into your premises overnight.
“It’s also concerning because we have residents in the building – someone lives in the pub.”
Police have made an appeal for CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage of the incidents
A spokesperson said high-visibility patrols will continue in the areas of these incidents, adding: “Please come and speak to officers in person if you wish to.
“They will be happy to hear and respond to your questions and concerns, as well as receive and record any information you may have on the recent incidents.
“If you were also a victim of a business burglary on the night in question, but have yet to report this to us, please do so at the earliest opportunity.”
