A TEENAGER has been arrested following a robbery at a convenience store in which cash and cigarettes were stolen.

Police were alerted to the incident at McColl’s in Longstock Crescent, Totton, after a member of the public called them just after 6am on Monday.

No one was injured during the robbery, thought to have involved four males, and officers later recovered a bag containing cigarettes that had been stolen from the store.

On Tuesday a spokesperson for Hampshire police confirmed a 15-year-old male from Southampton had been arrested.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting operation Assessment, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A McColl’s spokesperson said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and customers is of utmost importance.

"We are working closely with the relevant authorities in response to this incident.”
