Police find two suspected stolen bikes while visiting Burnt House Lane in Bransgore to make unrelated arrest

POLICE found two bicycles believed to have been stolen when they attended a Bransgore property to make an unrelated arrest.

The Trek Alpha and a Cannondale Scalpel were found on Burnt House Lane as they visited an address on the street around 1pm on 2nd October.

They were looking to arrest a suspect in connection with an attempted burglary which took place in Wiltshire.

It was thought the Trek Alpha was taken during a burglary at a property on Frog Lane in Fordingbridge between 17th and 22nd September. A haul of power tools was also stolen in that raid.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said no arrest was made on that day, and no arrests had since been made in relation to the stolen bikes.

Local officers posted an appeal online in a bid to trace the Cannondale’s owner.

“It's always a nice change when we are able to return stolen items to their rightful owners so we're hoping you might be able to help with this second bike that we are yet to identify,” the post said.

“Do you know anybody who has a bike like this one that they have recently misplaced or had stolen?

“Do you think this could be your bike? Do you know anything that would help us identify the owner of the bike?”

Anyone with information should contact officers online at hampshire.police.uk or call 101, quoting crime reference number 44230402320.
