‘Prolific’ Ringwood shoplifter Quincy Hopkins jailed for six months for stealing hundreds of pounds of goods after police find him hiding under a duvet
A “PROLIFIC” Ringwood shoplifter who stole hundreds of pounds of goods was jailed for six months after police found him hiding under a duvet.
Quincy Hopkins (27), of Queens Way, admitted seven theft charges, relating to offences between 25th November 2024 and 7th February this year.
Southampton Magistrates’ Court heard Hopkins twice targeted Tesco Express in Ringwood, taking a total of £350 in meat and fish.
He also twice stole from the town’s Sainsbury’s, fleeing with a total of £170 of laundry products.
Ringwood’s Windmill Service Station was also hit twice, with a total of £275 of meat, cheese and dairy goods stolen.
And he took £80 in meat from the Co-op in Bransgore.
As well as these charges, Hopkins admitted breaching a bail condition by entering the Tesco Express.
Handing down the prison sentence, a deputy district judge ruled only custody could be justified, noting Hopkins’ flagrant disregard for court orders, as well as people and their property.
The defendant was also ordered to fully compensate the stores for the value of the items stolen.
Posting online after the sentencing, local police said: “A prolific local shoplifter received a six-month prison sentence after being located hiding in an address.
“Police had to force entry and he was located hiding under the duvet.”
