Police investigating spate of car break-ins arrest boy (14)
POLICE investigating a recent spate of break-ins to cars in Pennington have revealed that they have arrested a 14-year-old boy.
A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: "Officers investigating a theft from a Vauxhall Corsa in Meadowlands, Lymington, have arrested a 14-year-old boy.
"Enquiries into further vehicles damaged in the area are ongoing."
The boy was later released on bail with police saying enquiries were 'ongoing.' He was given a curfew between 9pm and 7am while the investigation continues, officers said in an update on Facebook later.
The A&T reported earlier this week how around seven cars in Meadowlands and Bays Road were vandalised and broken into in the early hours of last Friday morning.
Items were stolen from the cars, some of which had windows allegedly smashed with a hammer.
Residents on Bays Road who were victims of the thefts said they were thinking of forming a vigilante squad to prevent further cars being attacked.
This article was amended on 17th January 2020 to include details of the boy's curfew published by Hampshire police.
