A MAN was arrested following an investigation into a spate of thefts from work van break-ins in Hythe and Ringwood.

A 44-year-old Totton man was identified as a person of interest by officers on Wednesday while at the wheel of a blue Renault Megane in Hammond Lane in the town and the vehicle was pulled over.

The vehicle was searched and a wide range of tools were discovered which are being linked to the burglaries which have occurred since the beginning of August.

A Hampshire police spokesman said the suspect was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and remained in police custody.
