Investigation launched into 'suspicious' car blaze outside a home in Churchfields in Fawley




POLICE are investigating a "suspicious" car blaze outside a Fawley home which resulted in a person being treated for smoke inhalation.

The alarm was raised around 5am on Saturday as flames engulfed the vehicle on the property’s driveway in Churchfields.

Hardley and Beaulieu firefighters contained the emergency within an hour. The car was about 75% damaged and there was smoke and heat damage to the garage door.

Emergency care was given to the casualty as smoke was vented from the building. Paramedics were called but soon stood down.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "The cause of the fire is not known at this time, but it is being treated as suspicious."
