Police release description of man sought in connection with first of two rapes on teenage girls reported in Totton this month
POLICE investigating the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Totton just over two weeks ago have released a description of a man they want to speak to.
The update comes after the reported rape of another teenager in the town on Friday, but the force has stressed the incidents were not thought to be linked.
As reported by the A&T, the first of these attacks took place in the Beaumont Road area around 8.30pm on Saturday 1st March.
Detectives are now looking for a man in connection with the incident. He is white, in his early 20s, with brown hair, a large nose and a spotty face. It is believed he can help with the investigation.
Lead investigator DI Claire Shawley said: “We fully understand the concerns within the local community regarding this incident.
“I’d like to reassure you all that we are working extremely hard to progress our investigation into this incident, and specialist officers continue to support the victim.
“We would still like to hear from anyone who was in the Beaumont Road area of Totton on the evening of Saturday 1st March.
“Do you recall seeing anything suspicious in the area at the time? Do you recall seeing anyone matching the above description?”
Useful CCTV, doorbell camera, dash cam and mobile phone footage are also still wanted.
The second rape was reported to have taken place between 6.20pm and 8.30pm on Friday.
Police cordoned off a park, off Testwood Lane, as they investigated the attack on a 13-year-old girl.
DI Shawley continued: “At this time, we do not believe the two incidents are linked, based on the events reported to us by the victims.
“We’d continue to ask the public to not speculate regarding either incident, but to instead share any information with us directly.
“We will share further updates with you on the investigations when we are able to do so.”
