A MACHETE and drugs were seized from the New Milton home of a man suspected to have assaulted a police officer.

Officers swooped on the address last Tuesday as part of investigations into the attack on PC Wood which was alleged to have taken place in the early hours of the previous Saturday.

After the man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, as well as a public order offence, the patrol saw a quantity of cannabis.

A search of the property uncovered more of the class B drug, money and evidence of dealing, as well as the large blade.

The man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and, for the second time in four weeks, was also arrested on suspicion of dealing.

Police seized more weapons – knives and a knuckle duster – when they carried out a drugs raid at another New Milton home last Thursday.

The warrant was carried out at the address in Longleat Gardens around 7am, with cannabis and a quantity of cash also discovered.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said a 15-year-old boy, a 39-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, who are all local, will be interviewed in relation to the find.
