Police swoop to arrest suspected knifeman in Lymington high street
POLICE teams responded to a suspected knifeman in Lymington high street yesterday (Sunday).
The man, who was reported to be acting aggressively, was arrested by a response unit and is currently in police custody, said Hampshire Constabulary.
The alert was raised shortly before 2pm as crowds of people visited shops in the busy town centre.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, said a police spokesperson.
People on social media reported marked vehicles speeding towards Lymington that afternoon with lights and sirens.
New Forest police tweeted today to confirm officers had intervened to deal with a male “acting aggressively and holding a knife” in the high street.
The tweet added: “They quickly located and arrested him. He remains in police custody at this time. Did you see anything?”
