Police warning to children climbing onto roofs of Lymington High Street buildings

“ALL it takes is one slip” – this was the warning from police amid several reports of children scaling the roofs of buildings in Lymington town centre.

Local neighbourhood officers took to Facebook to issue the message to the public regarding the high street incidents, stating youngsters could be seriously injured or even killed.

They urged parents and guardians to advise their children of the potential consequences of their actions.

“There have been several reports of children climbing up onto the roofs of several buildings in the high street,” the post said.

“Some may see this as just a bit of fun, but with recent bad weather and slippery roofs, all it takes is one slip and a child could be seriously injured or killed.

“Children may think that that are invincible and ‘it won't happen to me’, but we do not want to be in a position where we are knocking on a parent's door to inform them that their child has been seriously hurt or killed.”

The post also warned that any youngsters caught climbing on buildings and damaging them as a result face prosecution for criminal damage.
