Post office reopens at Lunns in Ringwood
RINGWOOD residents have a post office in the town centre again after a branch was officially reopened at Lunns art shop and newsagents.
A Post Office spokesperson said the "modern, open plan retail environment" on Christchurch Road will be open 49 hours a week.
Network provision leader Antoinette Chitty added: “We are delighted to have restored Post Office services to Ringwood as we know how important a post office is to a community.
"This has restored service to the community at this established, family-run newsagents.”
As well as the usual postal services, customers of main UK banks can access their accounts in branch, pay bills, withdraw cash and foreign currency, collect home shopping and return products.
The new post office, which has a low-screened counter, is open Mondays and Saturdays from 8.30am-1pm, and on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8am-4pm.
Ringwood's previous post office was at McColl's in Southampton Road until the operator gave up the role and closed the premises in August 2020.
The closure was lamented by civic leaders in the town, with former mayor Cllr Tony Ring telling a council meeting: "Particularly for the older people in the town, this will be a potential problem."
