MEMBERS of the public are being asked to look out for the body of a dog which is believed to have drowned in Beaulieu River.
The incident involving the brindle Staffordshire bull terrier happened on Monday near the railway line between Matley Wood campsite and Shatterford, Beaulieu Road.
A post on the New Forest Dog Owners Group called it a “tragic accident”.
It added: “Fire and rescue and volunteers have been out there, but sadly were unable to locate the body.
“It is likely it will show up at some point over the next few days as the water drops, but it could have travelled some way.”
Anyone who finds the pet, which was wearing a pink harness, is asked to contact NFDog.
