Milford Residents for Sustainable Development (MRSD) to hold public meeting at The Bridge to discuss Pennyfarthing Homes’ plans for 190 homes off Manor Road

A COMMUNITY campaign group hoping to slash the density of a Milford housing scheme will hold a public meeting this week.

Milford Residents for Sustainable Development (MRSD) are hoping to galvanise wider public support for their campaign to have the scale of a Manor Road building plan reduced to no more than 110 homes.

The meeting will take place at The Bridge (formerly Milford Community Centre) at 7pm on Wednesday 27th September.

As reported in the A&T, Pennyfarthing Homes wants to build 190 homes on fields adjoining Manor Road in a scheme which MRSD has called “the most significant in the village for half a century”.

Campaign group spokesperson Trevor Watson said: “We want to see a scheme that is aesthetically appropriate and at a density that will work for Milford – we are also determined that the provision of affordable housing should not be eroded. It must stay at 50% of the development.”

The outline planning application by Pennyfarthing sets out details for the development of the 11.9-hectare site with a range of one to five-bedroom affordable and market dwellings.

Access would be via three points along Manor Road, with a pedestrian entrance on Lymington Road and a network of cycle and walking routes throughout the site.

So far the scheme, which will be decided by NFDC’s planning committee, has prompted 236 objections as well as being opposed by Milford Parish Council.

The land was allocated as a housing site for at least 110 homes in NFDC’s Local Plan, which sets out where major housing developments can take place outside the national park until 2036.

The meeting will also be live streamed. To contact MRSD email: milford.residents@outlook.com.
