Red letter day as downsized Lymington post office reopens

STAFF at the new-look Lymington post office welcomed back customers after reopening at its fresh premises in Rashley Mews.

Continuing to be a main post office, the branch is offering the same products and services as before, along with stationary, cards and haberdashery items, but it will no longer sell grocery items.

Sub-postmistress Shanti Agath decided to downsize shop following due to financial pressure, expensive running costs and withdrawal of government funding for local post office branches.

Shanti told the A&T: “We were closed for a total of eight days to complete the work and to move everything to the new premises.

"We chose the Easter holidays to move so that the post office would be closed for shorter period of time which meant less disruption for the public.

“Our team has worked very hard and we have managed to complete the project. We are very happy with how it has come out and we hope that this move will help us keep the local community service going for a longer future.”
