Calshot RNLI rescue crew of sailing dinghy which twice capsizes in ‘very busy’ Solent shipping lane

CALSHOT RNLI rescuers went to the aid of sailors whose dinghy twice capsized in a busy Solent shipping lane.

Sunday’s first call-out came as the volunteers were recovering their D-class inshore lifeboat during a morning training exercise.

Having quickly relaunched to carry out a welfare check, they found the vessel’s occupants were happy to right it and continue on their way.

However, the sailing dinghy capsized again while still in the lane, with its occupants becoming tired, so the D-class crew called for help from the Atlantic 85 lifeboat.

Posting online afterwards, the organisation said both crews worked together to return both the sailing dingy and sailors to Calshot to “warm up and catch their breath”.
