Residents told to close windows amid fire at Marchwood waste centre




A large blaze at a Marchwood waste depot has seen nearby residents told to close their windows.

Fire crews are currently at the scene where 42 tonnes of household waste has gone up in smoke.

A tweet from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Rescue Service said: “Crews are currently tackling a blaze at Marchwood Waste Transfer Station involving 42 tonnes of household waste.

“Please be aware the fire is generating lots of smoke, anyone nearby should close windows.”
