Ringwood carnival back for first time since covid
MAGICIANS, stilt walkers and fire performers will entertain crowds for the return of the Ringwood carnival.
Covid cancelled the last two events, so the organisers of this year’s celebrations on 17th September have gone all out to bring it back with a bang.
There will be two parades: one in the afternoon at 2pm and a spectacular illuminated procession at 7.15pm. They will both be announced by the firing of the maroon.
Before both processions, Simon Chainey’s professional street gang of performers will be showing off their skills.
Heading up the afternoon parade will be carnival queen Katie Green on a horse-drawn float will be pulled by the Sampson’s Percheron horses.
At 3.30pm there will be a circus skills workshop on the village green followed by a Greyfriars garden party.
There is still room for anyone who wants to join in the procession. Spaces are being offered with the Urban Furniture Prospective who have Mad Max carts that need pushing during the evening parade. Contact via private message on the carnival’s Facebook page.
The London Tavern is sponsoring the afternoon parade and Ellis Jones Solicitors is funding the evening one.
Organisers are promising the event will be a “festival of fun supporting the local community”.
