Calshot RNLI volunteer Diane Carrier praised for 30 years of service to lifeboat rescue organisation
A CALSHOT RNLI volunteer has celebrated a milestone 30 years of service as an “integral part” of the team.
Diane Carrier has served in a number of roles with the maritime rescue organisation over her three decades.
Soon after joining, she worked her way up to become one of the boat crew.
For 18 years she was a crew member on board the all-weather lifeboats, as well as the inshore lifeboats.
Diane became a launch authority in 2012, continuing to support the station in safely coordinating boat launches and rescues with the crew.
This was vital as the station transitioned to new inshore lifeboats.
She then became the lifeboat operations manager, holding this role for six years, ensuring the station was run according to RNLI standards and to help save lives at sea in the Solent.
Having stepped down from that position, Diane has remained at the station, including continuing as launch authority, while also acting as shore crew and head launcher.
A Calshot RNLI spokesperson said: “We are very grateful for Di’s support, time and energy over so many years.
“She’s helped the station through some key transitions and is an integral part of the team here at Calshot.
“The knowledge accumulated over so many years of service continue to be of immense value to the station.”
