Roads warning after McLaren supercar ploughs into tree off A31
A MOTORIST had a lucky escape after a sports car careered off a main road near Cadnam and ploughed into a tree early this morning (Tuesday).
The incident involving a McLaren, which took place around 4.15am on the A31, near the junction for the M27, prompted police to urge other road users to be wary of the hazards posed by standing water following torrential rainfall.
The model looks to be a 540C, which is valued at £136,000.
A post on the Hampshire Roads Policing Twitter account afterwards said the driver was uninjured.
“Please be careful on the roads this morning,” it warned.
“There is still plenty of standing water around, causing a risk of aquaplaning. Unfortunately the driver of this vehicle found this out the hard way on the A31!”
The tweet added: “Tree 1 McLaren 0.”
