A ‘lurker in bushes’ at New Forest Centenary Site campsite in Bransgore turns out to be escaped horses




Police had a bit of a mare when they responded to a suspected lurker in bushes near a New Forest campsite that turned out to be escaped horses.

Called out at 9.30pm last Friday, officers galloped to the New Forest Centenary Site, off Forest Road in Bransgore, where it was believed a person was hiding in the bushes.

However, after they arrived at the scene, the alert was found to have been caused by horses which had escaped from a nearby paddock.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “Officers carried out a search of the area and it was ascertained that the noise was coming from horses which had escaped from a nearby paddock.”
