Second pensioner robbed of his Rolex

TWO women are being sought by police after a Rolex watch was stolen from a pensioner in a Lymington supermarket.

The victim, a 75-year-old man, had been shopping in Waitrose in Stanford Road when the robbery took place around 1.40pm on Monday.

He had been approached by two women who then left the store before fleeing in what was described as either a silver or grey Ford Focus.

No description of the pair was available.

This theft followed a similar incident in Christchurch which involved two women posing as charity workers stealing a pensioner’s Rolex. However, a spokesperson for Hampshire police was unable to confirm whether the two were being linked.

As reported in the A&T, the Christchurch incident took place between 2pm and 2.30pm on Saturday 23rd May, when the offenders approached a man in his 70s as he stood near a bus stop in Somerford Road.

Claiming to be collecting for charity, the pair struck up a conversation and persuaded him to sign some paperwork. They then tried to hug him while grabbing his T-shirt and arms, and his watch was stolen.

Those suspects were described as in their 20s, with one about 5ft 3ins tall and of a plump build, and the other 5ft 8ins tall and carrying a clipboard.

A Dorset Police spokesperson told the A&T on Wednesday investigations into this offence were ongoing and no arrests had yet been made.
