Lymington’s St Barbe Museum invites you to share memories over cuppa

PEOPLE are being invited to share their memories over a cuppa at St Barbe Museum in Lymington next week.

The Tea and Memories event is taking place from 2pm to 4pm at the museum and art gallery on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th. Entry is free.

A range of images and items associated with the Home Guard and Civil Defence during the Second World War will be showcased. These include a certificate signed by George VI and handmade charts from the late 1940s, teaching wardens what to do in the event of a nuclear war.

There are also government posters, strategic maps, and historic photos from the Forest, including of the town’s local Home Guard.

A museum spokesperson said: “These photos from local towns and villages are full of local people, so why not come along to see how many you can recognise or whether there are any pictures of you? We’d love to hear stories from your childhood.

“All visitors are welcome to drop in for free tea and biscuits and to share their memories, or just join in to look through the lovely photos of times gone by, which are sure to make you smile.”
