Lymington and Pennington Town Council opens new footpath at Buckland Recreation Ground

A new footpath that connects existing routes at a town recreation ground has been opened.

Lymington and Pennington Town Council said it is pleased to announce its amenities committee has appointed a contractor to install the path at Buckland Recreation Ground, connecting Fennel Gardens to the existing path across the site.

The new path is meant to improve access to the grounds, particularly for wheelchair users and other people with limited mobility, especially during wet weather.

Lymington mayor Cllr Colm McCarthy, who chairs the amenities committee, said: “We’re committed to making our public open spaces accessible to everyone, whatever the weather.

“This new footpath will provide a safe and reliable connection from Fennel Gardens, allowing more people to enjoy Buckland Recreation Ground all year round. It’s a small change that will make a big difference.”

Buckland ward Cllr Hannah Phillips, who is vice chair of the amenities committee, added: “Local residents have been telling us that this entrance becomes unusable in bad weather. We listened - and now we’re acting. That’s what the Lib Dems are all about: listening to local people and getting things done.”
