Sniffer dog called in after suspicious case sparks bomb alert

A SNIFFER dog was called in following the discovery of a suspicious case in a Lymington street which later turned out to be a piece of medical equipment.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public, who visited the town police station’s front desk to report having found the item in Grove Road.

In response, a patrol officer attended the scene and saw the black plastic case on the pavement, and his concerns as to what it might contain prompted him to call for the specialist police explosives dog to be sent out.

But it was later established the item was safe, with confirmation that it was a light beam generator used to help eliminate excess lymphatic fluid.

The device is being kept at Lyndhurst police station as officers attempt to reunite it with its rightful owner.
