Solar panel ambition for Milford Parish Council

A FIELD owned by Milford parish council could be developed into a small solar farm after plans to create a woodland area were shelved due to coastal erosion.

The green space on the western side of the village, close to Scholar’s Retreat on the Cliff Road B3058, was previously used for grazing livestock.

However, following the departure of the council’s previous tenant the authority began looking for new uses for the land. The idea of planting a small woodland was initially considered; however, the council was advised against this due to the exposed location and coastal erosion.

Milford parish clerk Graham Wells said: “Since then the field has been mown and a water supply connected so that sheep can graze there and keep any new growth to a minimum.”

He added: “Currently the parish council are investigating the possibility of placing a small number of solar panels on the site.

“This project is very much at an early stage and further details will be available in the coming months, and likely to be included on parish council agendas.”
