Special online police meeting to address safety concerns for Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole following fatal stabbing of Amie Gray at Durley Chine
People are invited to a special online police and council meeting to ask questions on safety in Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole.
The Facebook Live meeting has been organised for Wednesday 5th June to address concerns following the recent fatal stabbing of a woman on a Bournemouth beach.
Amie Gray (34), from Poole, died at the scene of the attack on Durley Chine Beach on the night of Friday 24th May.
Another woman, aged 38 and also from Poole, was hospitalised with serious injuries and has since been discharged.
Nasen Saadi (20), from Croydon, was subsequently charged with murder and attempted murder. He appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Saturday, when he was remanded in custody to appear at Winchester Crown Court tomorrow (Tuesday).
The meeting between 6pm and 7pm will involve representatives from Dorset Police and BCP Council and police and crime commissioner David Sidwick.
As well as taking questions from the public, they will discuss what steps they are taking collectively to keep them safe.
A recording of the meeting will be available afterwards for those unable to watch it live.
BCP commander Ch. Supt Heather Dixey said: “Our communities have been understandably shocked by what happened in Bournemouth last weekend and the thoughts of everyone are with the loved ones of Amie Gray and the injured woman.
“Our investigation is continuing and we will provide updates as and when we have them.
“During this Facebook LIVE event we’ll be talking about how we’re continuing to work together as a partnership to ensure we can meet the increased demands on our services over the summer so Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole can be a safe place to live and visit.
“We will also be able to talk about the joint operations we will be running to increase our visibility to the public and answer any questions you may have during the session.”
PCC David Sidwick said: “I know how important it is to feel safe where you live and work, and I want to assure you I take your views extremely seriously.
“Listening to your concerns is just one of the steps being taken as we all continue the relentless work to reduce violence and ensure Dorset is a safe place.”
The meeting can be followed via the live stream on the Dorset Police, Bournemouth Police, BCP Council and PCC Facebook pages, where there will be the opportunity to ask questions.
People can also access the event via the Dorset Police YouTube account without the need for an account.
