Officers recover caravan stolen from Crabbswood Lane, Sway, within 24 hours
The owner of a New Forest caravan park at the centre of a theft has praised the police and her CCTV system after a stolen caravan was recovered within a day.
Officers received a report on Tuesday 5th December that Crabbswood Farm in Sway had been broken into.
The site’s CCTV had caught the car registration and, working with colleagues in Eastleigh, police found both the stolen caravan and the car used to commit the crime in less than 24 hours.
Site owner Betty Stevens said: “We’ve had CCTV for quite a while and had another camera put up in August, and that’s the one which we got the registration from.
“We have actually decided to put up yet another CCTV camera as well.”
She said the police were “absolutely incredible”.
A police post online afterward said: “The investigation is still ongoing and hopefully our scenes of crimes department can assist us to identify those involved.”
Officers urged the public to continue to report suspicious activity in rural areas and added: “Your information may assist in solving a crime like this.”
