Strictly Come Dancing judge stars in Annie at the Mayflower this week
STRICTLY Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood will lead a stellar cast in the musical Annie which opens tomorrow (Tuesday) at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre.
Playing the tyrannical Miss Halligan, Revel Horwood will reprise the role which won him critical acclaim in the West End and on the production's 2015/16 UK tour.
The show will also star Alex Bourne as Oliver Warbucks, Richard Meek as Rooster, Jenny Gayner as Lily and Carolyn Maitland as Grace Farrell. The title role of Annie will be shared by Faye Katsande, Ava Smith and Freya Yates.
Set in 1930s New York during the Great Depression, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.
Determined to find her real parents, her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks.
But spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search.
Based on the award-winning book, the production includes the unforgettable songs It’s the Hard Knock Life, Easy Street, I Don’t Need Anything But You and Tomorrow.
Annie runs at Southampton Mayflower until Saturday. Tickets are £22.50 to £49.50.
