Sunshine, sausages and sport make Lions Club’s New Milton Town Show massive success
SUNSHINE, sausages and sport combined to ensure New Milton Town Show was a “huge” success with hundreds enjoying the event.
Chris Clarke, chair of Lions charity committee which organises it, told the A&T: “We sold out to our last sausage on the barbeque and, as for the sunshine, that was specially ordered for the day!”
Back after a two-year break thanks to the pandemic, the show proved popular with people of all ages.
England’s women being in the final of the World Cup added to the success as the game was played on a big screen in the Memorial Hall with people going on to the show after it finished.
There was plenty to cheer them up after the Lionesses’ sad defeat with Zumba displays, live music and more than120 vintage and classic cars for them to enjoy.
Chris said: “Three Counties Vintage and Class Car Club members turned up with lots of amazing cars but we also had several individuals who had read about the show and came along with their own vehicles, which was lovely.
“We had a soft toy tombola which delighted the kids and raised nearly £300.
“This year for the first time we had an excellent display by the Hordle Garden Club which was hosted in a marquee very kindly donated by New Milton Sand and Ballast who also sent along a crew to erect it.
“We also had great support from the town council and the New Milton Residents Association.
“We were so lucky with the weather and I think everyone went home with a good, glowing feeling.”
