SUPER substitute Liam Farrugia scored twice in extra time to give AFC Totton a hard-earned 3-2 victory over Weston Super Mare in the FA Trophy at the Snows Stadium.

On 16 minutes, Weston Super Mare midfielder Joel Randall got free after a defensive slip. Randall opened the scoring as his shot squeezed inside the left-hand post from eight yards.

Totton were level midway through the half. Matt Hartmann had a long-range free-kick. Hartmann floated the ball into the box, and the ball was cleared as far as Craig Feeney who fired into the top left-hand corner from 18 yards despite the best efforts of a defender on the goal line.

In the second half, visitors captain Greg Tindle headed wide from a corner on 64 minutes, and Randall almost claimed his brace but Stags keeper Alex Cull saved his shot. Weston pressed forward, and striker McCootie struck the post from distance. Minutes before the final whistle, Feeney slashed his effort wide from the edge of the box.

The game finished level after 90 minutes and shortly into extra time, Weston Super Mare were back in front when substitute Ryan Jones smashed home from close range.

After a gruelling afternoon in the wind and rain, both sides looked fatigued, but Totton refused to give up. The incredible work rate the Stags forced a corner on the right. Bozier floated the ball into the near post and substitute Farrugia rose above everyone to nod home.

Totton claimed the winner when Farrugia looked up and spotted Seagulls goalkeeper Luke Purnell six yards off his line and from 35 yards he lifted the ball towards goal and it dropped over Purnell and under the crossbar.

The Stags held on for the victory and march into the FA Trophy second qualifying round.
