Suspected cannabis factory waste dumped at New Forest cricket pitch
WASTE suspected to have come from a cannabis factory was found dumped on a New Forest cricket pitch over the weekend.
Contractors from Forestry England (FE) responded to a call on Sunday, reporting off-cuts from the class B drug’s plants were found, along with radiators, heaters and fans, at Bartley Cricket Club‘s ground in Bartley Road, Woodlands, near Netley Marsh.
Using specialist equipment and following safety procedures, the team spent around two hours clearing the waste from the site. This amounted to a total of 40 large bags.
An FE spokesperson said: “This recent incident is another example of the lack of respect some people have for the forest, its residents and wildlife.
“Working together, Forestry England and the local authority investigate fly-tips in an effort to trace them back to the offenders.
"Any evidence found in the clear-up process is also shared with the police.”
Anyone with information about where the waste came from is urged to contact FE’s office on 0300 067 4601. All calls will be treated in confidence.
