Sway post office is set to reopen in a village shop with an extra 57 hours of service time a week.

The old branch at Sway Newsagents in Station Road shut its doors in March, much to the dismay of local residents. However, the proposed new location is in the nearby Central Convenience Store.

The Post Office is inviting customers and those interested to comment on the move in a public consultation looking for feedback about accessibility, community issues and improvements which could make life easier for customers.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We are pleased to have been able to identify an alternative premises to restore Post Office services to the local community, [which] would be offered from a low-screened, open-plan, modern serving point alongside the retail counter.

“The opening hours will be seven days a week from 6am to 9pm. This would be an extra 57 hours of Post Office service a week than the previous location including all-day Sunday, Saturday afternoon, significantly earlier opening and much later closing.

“These changes would make it more convenient for customers to visit.”

The consultation closes on August 7th but in order to restore the service in the area as soon as possible the branch could open before then.
