A TEEN terrorist who has stabbed ten prison officers since being put in jail has been sent to an NHS mental health unit in New Forest.

Nathan Ruth, 18, originally from Totton was jailed for seven years in 2024 after being convicted of plotting an attack at the Isle of Wight when he was only 15.

He was sent to Feltham Young Offenders institute in south-west London where he has attacked ten prison warders in the time he has been there.

Ruth is now detained at Bluebird House in Tatchbury Mount in Calmore which according to its website is a “specialist, secure mental health inpatient unit that helps young people, both male and female.”

It adds: “Young people using our service have complex mental health problems which mean they pose a risk to themselves or others.

“Young people admitted to Bluebird House are detained under the Mental Health Act and may be subject to Ministry of Justice restrictions.”

Bluebird house is one of six medium secure adolescent mental health units in the UK. A video guided tour on YouTube shows off its sports hall, gym, games, room, hair salon and dentist.

Patients are given ensuite bedrooms which described are as being as “homely and comfortable as possible.”

During evenings and at weekends they can join in sports, board games, quizzes, arts and crafts and enjoy film nights.

There are three wards which have a lounge, dining room, quiet room, laundry and outside courtyard.

Patients receive lessons in maths, science, IT, painting, cookery, gardening and bike maintenance among others.

He had moved to East Cowes where he was was arrested in July 2022 following a tip off from the FBI.

Ruth had posted “alarming” messages on Instagram and other websites and also researched ways of carrying out an attack at the festival after becoming a convert to Islam.

Ruth also plotted a knife attack at a school and when he was arrested was found to have a knife and a ‘martyrdom’ letter in a rucksack.

He was sentenced to seven years jail after being convicted of a host of terrorist offences.

The Daily Mail says there has been “shock” amongst staff at Feltham at his move to Bluebird House saying a leaked intelligence report says he has pledged to kill a prison officer and managed to slice off one warder’s ear.

Officers had to wear “full riot gear” when delivering him food or taking him to the bathroom.

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: 'Prisoners can be transferred for treatment in mental health hospitals, based on assessments by expert clinicians, but will return to prison once they are fit to do so.

'We do not tolerate violence against our hard-working staff and will always push for the strongest possible punishments for those who break the rules.'
