Detectives arrest teens after man stabbed at junction of Roman Road and Butts Ash Lane in Dibden Purlieu




TWO people have been arrested after a man was stabbed in a Dibden Purlieu street.

The victim, who is in his 20s and from Hythe, was taken to hospital after the serious assault which happened at the junction of Roman Road and Butts Ash Lane shortly after 6pm last Thursday.

His condition was described by police as not life-threatening or life-changing.

Detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy from Hythe and a 19-year-old man from Sandown, Isle of Wight, in connection with the attack.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

The man was detained on suspicion of threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place and possessing a class B controlled drug.

Both were later released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

A large police presence, complete with forensics tent, was reportedly spotted at the scene as the investigation got under way.

A Hampshire force spokesperson said: “The arrests follow a reported stabbing of a man in his 20s shortly after 6pm on Thursday (24th April).

“The incident is reported to have occurred at the junction of Roman Road and Butts Ash Lane.

“The victim was taken to hospital, but thankfully his injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.”

The spokesperson added: “Officers continue to carry out extensive enquiries in relation to the incident.”

Witnesses and those who may have captured useful video footage are being urged to come forward.
