Speeder caught on animal accident blackspot B3078 Roger Penny Way prompts campaign group warning
“THE thud of the impact will haunt your sleep.”
This was the stark warning from a campaign group after a motorist was caught at 64mph on a notorious New Forest animal accident blackspot road.
Police pulled over the offending driver after his vehicle was clocked breaking the 40mph limit on the B3078 Roger Penny Way, between Bramshaw and Fordingbridge, last Thursday night.
Campaign group New Forest Roads Awareness emphasised on Facebook the danger of excess speed on routes where livestock roam free.
The recent release of 20 stallions onto the Forest was particularly highlighted.
The post said: “Do you know what can happen if you do over 50% over the speed limit?
“If you hit an animal, you may be lucky and kill it outright... if not, you will be sitting in your written-off car watching it suffer, anyone else in the car will see it too.
“The thud of the impact will haunt your sleep.”
