Adam Lewandowski given dream Disneyland trip thanks to Simon Read Foundation
A SIX-YEAR-OLD had his Disneyland dream come true, thanks to a charity launched in memory of tattoo artist Simon Read who grew up in Lymington.
Adam Lewandowski, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of three, got his dream trip to the park near Paris with help from the Simon Read Foundation.
At Disneyland Adam met characters from the Avengers movie and other superheroes, after proving to be a little hero himself by enduring more than 60 hospital procedures in the last two years.
Mum Paulina told how every time he woke from the anaesthetic after yet another operation, he would ask: “Am I well enough to go to Disneyland now, mummy?”
This time he finally was and, thanks to a cheque for £7,000 from the charity, he was able to take his whole family.
Paulina described the trip as “magical”, saying: “Seeing Adam meeting all of his favourite superheroes brought joy to my heart.
“These are memories we will never forget. This was the happiest we have seen our little hero since he was diagnosed.”
The foundation was set up by Simon’s widow Caroline and his sister Donna Bingham. Simon, who grew up in Milford and Lymington, died last year at the age of 54.
The charity will pay for children with illnesses and disabilities to enjoy holidays, day treats, trips and respite.
Donna said the charity was “delighted” that Adam had had such a good time, saying: “Simon absolutely adored Disneyland, his favourite place in the world.
“He would be so pleased to see Adam having such a fantastic time.
“We are glad we were able to give him and his family a little bit of fun.”
