Three speeding drivers ticketed as police and partners carry out 2025’s first Operation Mountie crackdown in New Forest

A DRIVER clocked at more than 20mph above the speed limit was one of three ticketed in the first multi-agency crackdowns in the New Forest of 2025.

Two Operation Mountie sessions were held last Wednesday, with police and partners stationed at Crockford Clump in Lymington and Brockenhurst’s Hawkhill Inclosure – the sites of recent animal accidents.

The initiative aims to cut speeding and animal deaths across the Forest through education and enforcement.

Officers work with Forestry England, the national park authority and campaign group New Forest Roads Awareness.

Wednesday’s sessions saw the team issue three tickets for speeds of 61mph, 51mph and 50mph on the 40mph routes.

Other drivers exceeding the limit were spoken to by the partners, who explained why extra care and attention needed to be taken on Forest roads.
