Three hit-and-runs among five reported New Forest animal collisions
THREE hit-and-runs were among five collisions involving New Forest livestock that were reported within a week.
No injured animal was found following all of the hit-and-runs, the first of which was said to have seen a pony struck on the B3056 at Bolton’s Bench in Lyndhurst.
Agister Robert Maton responded to the call-out around 9.40am on Monday 29th July.
The second hit-and-run was said to have involved a black cow at Emery Down at 3.20pm the next day. Mike Maton was the responding agister.
A dun or grey foal was said to have been involved in the final reported hit-and-run, on Ringwood Road, between Honey Lane and Longmead Road, at Burley. Robert Maton responded to the call-out at 11am last Thursday.
A dark brown pony was struck on the B3056 at Pondhead at 4.45pm on Tuesday 30th July, but agister Mike Lovell found it uninjured.
Finally, head agister Jonathan Gerrelli responded to a call to a collision on the C10 eastbound at Setley at 5.55pm last Friday, finding an injured grey filly foal.
No animal collisions were reported during the previous week.
