THREE more people have been arrested in connection with a knife attack which took place in a New Milton street early last Friday morning.

Police cordoned off a property in Gore Road after a 56-year-old local man suffered stab wounds to his arm and body when he was assaulted there at around 5.20am.

Officers have arrested a 26-year-old woman, a 29-year-old man from Christchurch and a 28-year-old Bournemouth woman, each on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

They previously arrested a 25-year-old local woman was also detained on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

All four suspects have since been released but they remain under investigation as enquiries into the attack continue.

After being assessed and treated at the scene by paramedics, the victim was taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

His condition was later described as serious, but not life-threatening.

Officers were still at the scene at around 9.45am and, as well as the cordon, a foil sheet was covering a ground-floor window.

Hampshire police confirmed the incident was being treated as a stabbing.

A spokesperson said: “An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.”
