Weather: Thunderstorm warning for New Forest and Christchurch overnight 3rd and 4th November




IT'S another day, another weather warning for the area, with thunderstorms expected overnight today (Thursday) and Friday.

The Met Office this morning has issued a yellow alert for a swathe of the south coast including the New Forest and Christchurch.

Up to 40mm of rain could hit the area, with flooding, lightning strikes and power cuts possible.

The agency is also warning of poor driving conditions and delays to rail services.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Following recent wet weather, further heavy and slow-moving showers and thunderstorms will affect parts of south and south-east England during Thursday evening and overnight.

"Downpours are likely to be most frequent along the coast.

"Some locations may receive 30-40mm of rain in a few hours, while thunderstorms will be mostly limited to coastal districts where lightning and hail may be additional hazards."

The alert is from 8pm today until 6am tomorrow.
