Met Office issues yellow weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy showers in Christchurch and New Forest
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the New Forest and Christchurch with heavy showers and thunderstorms due to hit the area from 11am today (Tuesday).
Homeowners have been warned they may experience flooding and lightning strikes that could cause property damage and power supply interruptions.
Commuters and motorists are warned that standing water, road spray and possible hail will lead to longer journeys by car and bus as well as disruption on railways.
A Met Office spokesperson said heavy showers and thunderstorms would develop throughout today (Tuesday) moving slowly through south and east England into the afternoon and evening.
Some areas could see 20mm of rainfall within an hour.
The alert is in place until 10pm.
