Lymington and Pennington Town Council inviting nominations for its 2024 Citizen of the Year award
THE search is now on to find Lymington and Pennington’s citizen of the year.
A town council spokesperson said nominations are now open for this year’s award.
Last year’s winner was Stephen Green, the founder of the New Forest Litter Pickers.
The council accolade recognises “outstanding” individuals in the community who have made a “significant contribution to the wellbeing” of the town.
Mayor Jack Davies said: "Our community thrives because of the generosity and dedication of individuals who go above and beyond to support others.
“The Citizen of the Year Award is an opportunity to shine a light on these individuals and to thank them for their invaluable contributions to Lymington and Pennington."
The award honours residents who have demonstrated “exceptional commitment” through voluntary work, leadership, or acts of kindness that had a positive impact on the lives of others through either long-term dedication to community service or a “single outstanding act of goodwill”.
Nominees must work, study or contribute to the town of Lymington and Pennington, and their contributions must have had a positive impact on the local community. Their achievement can be in any field, including community service, education, sports, charity work, or arts and culture.
Nominations can be made by the public, and should be submitted by the official form on the town council’s website before 15th November.
After nominations have been received, a town council sub-committee will review the entries and announce the winner at a council meeting on 11th December.
