Fallen trees block A337 near Brockenhurst




MOTORISTS are facing lengthy delays and road closures after fallen trees blocked road across the New Forest and Christchurch this afternoon.

The region which is currently the subject of a Met Office Yellow Weather Warning for heavy rain and strong winds until around 9pm this evening.

The A337 near the Balmer Lawn Hotel is currently closed after two trees blocked the road between Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst, with reports another has come down on the same route from Lymington just before Brockenhurst station.

It has also been reported a fallen tree is partially blocking Alexander Road in Lymington.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Initially the strongest gusts will be focused around southwest England and south Wales during the late morning and early afternoon. Here gusts of up to 80mph are possible in exposed coastal locations.”

Hampshire Highways has been approached for a comment.
