Travellers leave Lymington New Forest Hospital staff car park after three days
TRAVELLERS who settled in Lymington New Forest Hospital’s staff car park have moved on after three days.
Police said the group, which comprised around half a dozen vehicles left the site, off Ampress Lane, today (Tuesday) after collaborating with the hospital and New Forest District Council.
As reported by the A&T, officers and the hospital’s Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust owners were alerted to the unauthorised encampment on Saturday.
The trust stressed alternative parking for hospital staff was available, with access to patient services unaffected.
Confirming the travellers’ departure, a Hampshire police spokesperson said today: “Officers worked closely with the hospital and New Forest District Council to resolve the situation.”
This incident came after a settlement which had been on Ashley recreation ground, near New Milton Rugby Club, since last Monday had moved on by Friday.
The handful of caravans was served notice to leave the site, off Molyneaux Road, by New Forest District Council the previous night.
It has not been confirmed whether the hospital travellers are connected to the Ashley group, as well as those that were recently on the nearby Ampress estate or a field near Moyles Court School in Ringwood.
As previously reported, Moyles Court’s head teacher shut the school two days early for half-term after the travellers appeared on 24th May.
There were reports some of the group allegedly tried to enter the private school’s playing fields while they were being used by pupils.
They left the site three days later.
