A MAN from near Ringwood is due to stand trial accused of killing his pregnant wife who went missing 20 years ago.

Andrew Griggs (56), of Ringwood Road, St Leonards, pleaded not guilty to a charge of murdering Debbie Griggs.

He made his plea when he appeared at the Old Bailey via videolink from Bournemouth Crown Court.

Mrs Griggs had disappeared from her home in Walmer in Deal, Kent, on the evening of 5th May 1999.

She was aged just 34 and expecting the couple’s fourth child.

She has never been found and her mother Pat died without finding out what had happened to her.

Griggs was charged with his wife’s murder on 12th March this year. He will now appear for trial at Canterbury Crown Court in October.
