Two arrested by police investigating string of business burglaries

TWO people have been arrested by police investigating a string of burglaries that took place at homes and businesses in Lymington and Totton.

A hair salon, a café and a church were among the properties targeted in the raids which took place between 30th November and 29th December last year.

On Tuesday evening officers arrested a 45-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from Lymington, in connection with a break-in at Elegance Hairdressing in Eling Lane, Eling, on 29th December.

A 3ft length of metal joist was hurled through the salon’s glass front door to gain entry between 7pm and 7.30pm, before a till drawer containing £50 was stolen, along with a quantity of tips.

The male suspect was also detained in connection with nine other break-ins, all of which took place in Lymington.

These included one at the United Reformed Church in High Street on 5th December, as well as residential properties in High Street and Southampton Road.

He was also held in connection with raids on Solent House Dental Surgery in Cannon Street and Costa Coffee in High Street on 27th and 28th December respectively, in which empty till drawers were taken.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said both suspects had been released on bail until 11th February pending further enquiries.
